The purpose of apologetics is to defend, not prove the faith. It is impossible to prove or disprove the existence of God. If we could do so, then faith would no longer be a necessary part of salvation.
The task of the apologist is two-fold: -
1) To establish the credibility of the Christian faith given the objective evidence (reason, Is.1:18).
2) To lead the non-believer to a point of decision (faith, Rom.9:9-10).
