Hebrews 4:14-16
14. Since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven — Jesus the Son of God — let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all the same temptations we do, yet He did not sin. 16. So, let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Jesus is like us because He experienced a full range of temptations throughout His life as a human being. We can find comfort in knowing that Jesus faced temptation—He can sympathize with us. We can take encouragement in knowing that Jesus faced temptation without succumbing to sin. He demonstrates that we do not have to sin when confronted with the seductive lure of temptation. Jesus is the only Perfect Human Being who has ever lived.
Prayer is our way of approaching God, and we are to come “boldly.” Some Christians approach God meekly with heads bowed low, afraid to ask Him to meet their needs. Others pray carelessly, giving little thought to what they say. Come with bold confidence because He is your Friend and Counselor.
