Heb.4:12 The Word of God is living and active (ESV, NASB)
Heb.4:12 The Word of God is alive and active (NIV)
This morning, as I drove alone to church, I pondered my personal belief and frequently quoted conviction of Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (KJV) (ESV). The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing. (NIV). Did not the psalmist David experience trials, dangers and enemies in his lifetime? Had not Jesus taught likewise, Mathew 6:31-32 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Had not the apostle Paul stressed the same in Romans 8:28-37, in all things we are more than conquerors? Contrastingly, the popular songwriter laments: “I can’t get no satisfaction!”

At the Service, the Message was on The Miraculous Feeding of the 5,000, as recorded in Mark 6.
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd (Mark 6:34). Afterward, the Bible records: They all ate and were satisfied, 43 and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. Mk.6:42
After the service, I offered to pray with a Spanish-speaking couple and their daughter, who were new to our church. We had sat beside each other. The mother had been following the worship on her smartphone - in Spanish, I presume. My welcome was warmly received, and we exchanged contact information so that we might stay in touch.
