Knock and the door shall be opened… Matt. 7-8

Jesus Passing through Jericho

The Salvation of Blind Bartimaeus and Dishonest Zacchaeus Mark 10:46-52; Luke 19:1-10

Poor Bartimaeus was blind and a permanent fixture on the road.  Each day his life was the same; for him nothing changed.  He drank, ate, slept on the roadside and depended on peoples’ generosity.  He had no government assistance to help him with this crisis in his life.

But he heard something wonderful: He heard that Jesus of Nazareth had entered his popular resort city of Jericho, he had an idea. I’m going to shout and ask Jesus to help me. So, he began to shout, “Jesus Son of David have mercy on me.”

The crowd said to him “shut up and be quiet”.  He paid no attention to them, he thought I must be persistent, so he yelled louder the second time “Jesus Son of David have mercy on me”

Jesus heard Bartimaeus calling out.  Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”

” Bartimaeus threw off his cloak;

 and he was brought to Jesus”.

“WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU?” Jesus asked.

Bartimaeus thought “Is this a dream”? Did I hear correctly; “Yes, I heard correctly.  I am sure, Jesus, Son of David spoke to me”.

He said “Rabbi “I WANT TO SEE.” Bartimaeus thought to himself forty years I wanted to see, but no one could help me.  But I just couldn’t see.  This was my handicap. I had no choice.  I had to beg to survive.

Suddenly, he heard Jesus say “GO your faith has healed you”. Bartimaeus eyes were opened, and he started to follow Jesus along the road. /Cont’d...
